My eldest daughter's birthday

How thrilled I was to hear that my daughter didn't want to celebrate her birthday on the exact day because it was Ash Wednesday. She said she wanted to have a mardi gras cake and celebrate it on Tuesday instead. So, we went to the movies and ate cake on Tuesday, and she turned 12 the next day with just a little fun and Mass and ashes. Now, I would never have thought of that when I was a kid.....
