This has been my own personal rant for years! Every Sunday as a regular usher, I see adults chewing gum like cows, children allowed to get up and walk about the Church freely, the "Exodus" begins right before communion as droves of people leave. The attire......well, I am reminded of the snapshot of the college girls with President Bush and the big media hubub about the one girl in flipflops......
Esther, from her blog shares this and I hope you all read it. Too bad the adults that regularly attend Mass chewing gum like cows aren't reading this. A Catholic Mom in Hawaii: Father Jay Flaherty Speaks Plainly to His Parishioners

Oh, yes. In full agreement! Thanks for the link to "A Catholic Mom in Hawaii". I actually addressed the Jack Chick pamphlets in my post last Friday:

Thanks for sharing that post here Ebeth. I hope there are more priests like Fr. Flaherty speaking out all over the world.
And one other thing, cell phones! One day a woman answered her phone DURING the homily! Fr. had to stop, and ask her to stop talking, or 'take it outside!' We have no 'fear of the Lord' anymore. How this must grieve His Heart, so wounded already by sins. Lord have mercy!
Good for that priest! People need to remember that we do not go to church to chat with our friends or "have fun." It's about worshiping the Lord! Whatever happened to showing reverence? And it's not just Catholics. I saw plenty of this same junk during my charismatic evangelical days. God forgive us for not honoring Him, especially at the mass, which we should always hold sacrosanct.
