How is Lent going for you? Are you doing something special? Learning something new?
So far, I am keeping my computer time to a bare minimum, just work, no play. I pray every day, and every night. I thank God for my family, friends, home and hearth, but still my prayer life seems lacking something.
Have you ever felt this way? What did you do about it?
I'm listening.

Yes! I have felt this way, many a time, I call it my 'dry prayer time' - In these times, I switch up my spiritual reading with something a little less 'deep'....and try to make something deep out of it. Some books out there have great messages, even non spiritual ones....and then I take the lessons learned and see if I can correlate to a Gospel passage to find a deeper truth to it. Persevere, it too shall pass!
I like to pray using Lectio Divina. Also, St. Ignatius Spiritual Exercises are awesome.
I find an OLD book of a Saint. Read about him or her and it is so edifying and encouraging and yes, sobering, but filled with TRUE hope that if we 'die to ourselves' ... little by little... we WILL become what we contemplate. The key is, taking that time to sit in stillness and silence of heart to hear His Voice. Even if only 5 minutes. Five minutes given ALL to Him is quite enough time for the Consuming Flame of His Heart to ignite our smoldering, feeble, little flame, struggling even to flicker under the ashes.
