A Book Meme.....I got tagged!

Both Marie and Jenn tagged me for this meme, I think they knew I needed a break from all the politics and seriousness.....they are right!!! Thanks, ladies, you both ROCK!

The Rules:
Pass this on to 5 blogging friends. Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56. Write the 5th sentence, as well as two to five sentences following that.

It so happens that the current book I am reading will be my next book review for The Catholic Company, "Dark Night of the Soul" by St. John of the Cross. The requested sentence and consecutive 2 or 3 are as follows:

There is, therefore, a great difference between dryness and lukewarmness, for the latter consists in great remissness and weakness of will and spirit, in the want of all solicitude about serving God. The true purgative aridity is accompanied in general by a painful anxiety, because the soul thinks that it is not serving God. Though this be occasionally increased by melancholy or other infirmity - so it sometimes happens yet it is not for that reason without its purgative effects on the desires, because the soul is deprived of all sweetness, and its sole anxieties are referred to God. For when mere bodily indisposition is the cause, all that it does is to produce disgust and the ruin of bodily health, without the desire of serving God which belongs to the purgative aridity.
Now I must tag 5 blogger friends, hmm

Nick, do you have time for this, you new DRE!!!
Karen, Gem of the Ocean? Haven't visited you in a while...
Steven, Mr book reviewer himself
Deanna, since you are finished schooling!
Kate, who is busy growing another of God's masterpieces!

There were a few more that I wanted to tag, especially CatholicMom, but she is suffering a broken arm, so I won't do that to her.....yet!!

I'm going to be a rule-breaker and post my sentences as a comment. From the field manual "Combatives: Hand-to-Hand Combat", on pg. 56, we read the following:

c. Prisoner Escort. The escort secures the prisoner's arm with the wrist bent sraight back upon itself, palm toward the elbow. The prisoner's elbow can be secured in the crook of the escort's elbow, firmly against the escort's body for the most control (Figure 3-17). This technique is most effective with two escorts, each holding a wrist of the prisoner. Use this technique to secure the opponent only if rope, flex cuffs, or handcuffs are unavailable.

Haha! Pretty freakin awesome :D

I see this meme made its way over to the Blogger people.

I filled in this meme some time back. You may read my answer here, if you wish:

WOW Great book to choose from Ebeth:) and a good explanation of the difference from the 'dark night' and depression. Many people get muddled up with them, there IS a difference.

Peace and JOY to you:)

I am a Meme slacker, but I plan to post something tomorrow. Thanks for including me, Ebeth.

By the way, I do have another mixed marriage tips post that I'll likely post during Advent. I'll keep you posted.

God bless!
