My final Assessment for session 1 in Evangelization

Explain the relationship among evangelization, Kingdom and discipleship.

For the longest time, I had a difficult time wrapping my brain around the concept of the Kingdom of God, but after reading our chapter this week and seeing that the word presence can replace kingdom bringing the meaning crystal clear. The presence of God in the world was Christ during His time on earth. It’s no wonder that this confused the apostles especially since kingdom does make a person think of power and authority. Christ was showing us that the Kingdom of God was coming and already here in Him and the love that he showed all those around Him.

Discipleship is bringing the Kingdom of God to those around us. It is the day-to-day conscience decision to live as Christ taught the apostles during His ministry and beyond with the Holy Spirit. Discipleship is a lifestyle and a deliverance balled up in one person who has the faith, strength, courage, and hope in God and Christ Jesus. A person that lives as a disciple of Christ is evangelizing nearly without really knowing specifically when or who they evangelize or touch spiritually. It is a way of life.

Evangelization is the power that is emitted from one who lives as a disciple of Christ in the world. It is the heart and soul of the Church. To evangelize is to be Christ in the world to others living, loving, and sacrificing as Christ in name of teaching that of God’s love for all His children.

As I am writing this assessment, I realize that the Kingdom of God is the Eucharist at Mass that feeds us and nourishes us to be disciples as we “Go in Peace to love and serve the Lord” which in turn evangelizes the flock and brings in more to Her bosom the Church.

I am in the final stretch to obtaining Master Catechist certification with 4 more courses to go. The 2 I am taking now and 2 more in October. This course is Evangelization and Discipleship. My other course is: Catholic Social Teaching, I may be posting some of my responses here too for that course.
