Five years ago today, sitting here in front of the computer, I thought. There was so much in my heart to share, so many years of thinking, learning, and discerning about life, family, faith, and the Catholic Church. My passion has been since then spent on these pages on this blog, I fondly call the, "Pillars." My next passion is reading, so there are over a dozen or more books that I have reviewed through the Catholic Company
Five years, I've heard, is a long time for a blog and a blogger to keep on being consistent and determined to project the thoughts, ideas, and dreams held within the heart. Granted, I've had my dry spells, writer's block, I've had my times where there wasn't enough time to get it all down. There were times with others in the house needed/wanted and accused me of hogging the computer. Homework to be done, research papers to write, distant relatives to catch up with demanded that I vacate this chair and wait. But all in all, I have hogged this computer and I have monopolized this corner in the family room and managed to scratch out nearly 800 posts, essays, and nuggets of my limited wisdom and knowledge.
All the while, my family has changed, people have come and gone, my children have blossomed. We lost my knight's father four years ago this month, our son married his sweetheart in August three years ago and added a lovely daughter-in-law.
Along the way, I have met some wonderful people that I am so glad and honored to call friends. They have taught me much and I have been inspired to continue a journey of grown in my own faith. In 2009, I finished my certification as a master catechist, later that year I was invited to give a talk on Prayer (it lasted an hour) and I began writing more on my books and lectures. In 2010, I attended the CMN/CWG conference in Philly and witnessed Catholicism at it's best. I'm continuing to write for Catholicmom.com, Catholic Lane.com, Catholic Writer's Guild, and was invited to write for Association of Catholic Women bloggers just last year and recently with the Catholic Bloggers Network.
What fun! My prayer still stands as it has from the beginning:
Dear Father, I pray that this is the purpose of my blog, that I may share the love and devotion that you have given me to others. Especially, I want to reach the mothers of Catholic families and even those who are not Catholic, but interested in knowing more about our faith and give them the courage and resources they need to pass the Catholic faith down to their children. I ask this in Christ Jesus' name, who lives and reigns with you in the union of the holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.
My thanks for all the support and visitors over these five years and ask for prayer as I continue to be part of the new evangelization in the world. God Bless!
