We are back: Now to help a mourning Husband

Well, since this is a new phase in our married life, I needed to put my thinking cap on and figure out how to be the best princess to my knight. He has been long-faced and weary for a while now with all the responsibility in the care of his parents so far away. Now with the death of his beloved father, you can add loss and sadness to the list.

What do you think would help? Well, as a girl with lots of great girl thoughts in my head, I trucked out to the nearest Target store and bought every variation of dark chocolate available to mankind. Then, bought a loving (I love you) card and a pretty cascade of ribbons and presented him with my gift as he lay underneath his ailing auto that we need to keep running for at least one more year.

It helped, he was chocolate-mouthed and smiling within a few minutes.

It is such a sad and poignant time - when a man loses his father.

My father-in-law passed away a short 3 years ago - my husband was very close to him, and was his only son. Our son was named for him - which touched his heart so greatly.

My husband did amazingly well afterwards. I thought it would bring him down to the point where I felt helpless - but his faith has sustained him. He knows he'll see him once again..

I pray for your husband's strength and his faith.

God bless.

Ebeth,

You certainly know how to bring comfort to your dh's heart! Little gifts from the heart can work wonders.

I have found that what works best for us when we go through times of trial is to pray together -- even a simple prayer can help.

We are continuing to lift you up in prayer. We are praying for peace and comfort to fill your hearts. May our dear Blessed Mother wrap you both in the protective and secure blanket in which she wrapped her infant Son.

In His love and peace,
Jean
